Colour Grading
Colour grading is often the last step in a production's visual pipeline. The aim of colour grading is to make the image as visually appealing as possible by altering it's colour balance and tone. The process has a technical and a creative side: technically the image is altered so that it complies with standards such as being broadcast safe. Creatively colour can be used to evoke emotion from the viewer or draw the viewers eye to a particular part of the image.
Thrive uses Apple's Color application to bring high quality grading facilities to the projects that require it. Taking a video through the grading process results in a unified result with clear tone, colour and overall higher visual quality. Below are some images that help to show the results that are achievable with colour grading. Place your mouse over the image to see the before image.
